Wild Plants - 2023
This pattern was made combining a physical sketchbook page with watercolor illustrations and then rearranged digitally into a repeating pattern. This pattern features plant species that I encountered on walks during the Summer and Spring of 2023.
This is the original sketchbook page the pattern is based on. I adapted this page so that no edges would be cut off.
Using a lightbox, I traced the sketchbook page onto a piece of paper.
This is the final pattern I ended up with. I had to make a few digital adjustments to make it more seamless, but the watercolor texture shows through nicely.

The images show some of the process from the original sketch to cutting and formatting the pattern, tracing the pattern digitally, coloring with watercolors, and testing out different versions digitally to get to the final version of the pattern.
Red Oak - 2023
This pattern and its variations were inspired by the leaf and branch structures of Red Oak trees. I experimented with color variations that reflect shifting seasons as well as vector and watercolor versions of the design.
