Outside Chronicles Birding and Hiking Challenge Patches and Decals
This patch and sticker design was created for Outside Chronicles x Buffalo Audubon's Spring Birding Challenge. I had a 9 color limit for the patch which was produced at 3 inches by 3 inches. The patch and decal was given to all participants who completed the tasks of the challenge.

I have continued to work with Outside Chronicles to design patches, decals, and t-shirts for a total of five challenges including the Ultimate Hiking Challenge. This is a year round challenge that can be completed by anyone in the world. I went through a lot of ideation before I got this design to where I finished it.

An earlier version of the design featured just the female warbler on the nest, but I wanted to include the strikingly recognizable plumage of a male Hooded Warbler too.

For this design, it was important to me that the bird I chose was one that spent the duration of the challenge on its breeding territory at Buffalo Audubon's preserve. It was also important to me that i include a nod to the final year of the citizen science projects, the NYS Breeding Bird Atlas.

To do this I chose a nesting pair of Hooded Warblers with the female warbler on the nest.
I varied the decal design slightly to allow the leaves to break the border and create a more lively composition.
